We’re in mid-September and we can glimpse the end of this summer season 2012, which has been more good than thought. This year has done a wonderful job, both government (from government to the municipalities) as by private entities, to promote tourism in our area, our economic engine. But, you get closer to the season, does not mean that the thing is dead, now more than ever there are events and activities for all ages and tastes.
In Lloret de Mar, this year marks the 60th edition of the Rally Costa Brava, the oldest in Spain. It will take place on 12 and 13 October, departing from the Promenade of Lloret de Mar at 18.00 and end at 00.45 stage in Girona. The second stage, during the 13th, starting from Girona will leave at 10.00 arriving at 21.30 at the same place. We copy 3 links where you can check the timetables for steps and sections.
The Fair of Calella and Alt Maresme start this 2012 its 32nd edition with the monograph entitled «Catalonia, the roots of a unique country», a single proposal along the nearby three editions of the sample mean the approach to specificities of Catalonia through knowledge of their culture, tradition and uniqueness. This year’s edition, the number thirty-two, focuses on the mountainous territory through a monograph entitled «Pyrenees: Culture, Tradition and Innovation» and structured on four thematic areas: Nature/Environment, Culture, Brand Pyrenees and Gastronomy.
The accordionist tradition of La Seu d’Urgell, La Patum of Berga, sheepdog competitions of Cerdanya, or raiers from La Pobla de Segur are some of the elements of culture that are present Pyrenees to the Fair.
This edition also highlights the involvement of the sample with social networks, with the creation of the hashtag #firadecalella12, with which is sought to Twitter and Instagram presence. And the new look of the website of the fair.
The mayor of La Seu d’Urgell, Albert Batalla, will be in charge of opening the Fair on Friday September 21, at one o’clock.
Another event that is celebrating it’s Oktoberfest Calella, which this year celebrates its 25th edition in this location in Maresme. What began at the time as a typical event in Germany, has become over time an international celebration and we are proud to say that each year we have participants from countries across Europe. Today, the Oktoberfest Calella has become an international meeting point for musicians and almost 70% of the bands return year after year! From 29 September to 20 October in the tent of Calella beach (in front of the train station).
Most of you should know the Challenge Costa de Barcelona – Maresme, as we have discussed several times here, at the GHT Hotels Blog. This year marks the 4th edition of which is considered the best triathlon in Spain, with a record participation of 1,400 athletes. For those who do not know, the challenge is 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42 km running. The competition will take place on Sunday September 30 starting and finishing in Calella, from 8:30 am.
And to end, a newly created festival held its first edition in Calella: the choral festival «Sing to the Sea», in which choirs from more than 30 countries will compete during 6 days in already considered a reference festival within the European circuit. The performances will be held simultaneously in three different scenarios (Fabrica Llobet-Guri, Mozart Hall and Parish Church), and supplemented by several parallel activities such as coral macroconcert on Sunday October 21, in which all participants will sing together with the goal of making Calella a giant concert hall.
