Christmas is just around the corner, bringing with it family gatherings and festive plans. Today, we’d like to suggest some activities to do on the Costa Brava so you can enjoy these special days with your loved ones.
Christmas fairs and markets
An ideal plan for families is to visit one of the Christmas markets or fairs held in different towns along the Costa Brava, such as Tossa de Mar, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Sitges, or Roses.
You’ll have a great time picking out Christmas decorations for your home and tree, buying some gifts, listening to carols, and, if there are stalls selling local products, tasting the region’s gastronomy in a magical and festive atmosphere.

Living Nativity Scenes
Every Christmas, many living nativity scenes take place on the Costa Brava, a well-established cultural and leisure tradition throughout Catalonia.
One of the most famous and also the oldest is in Castell d’Aro, which started in 1959 thanks to the parish priest Gumersind and a local family.
Another nativity scene not to be missed is in Pals. It’s a closed route through the Gothic quarter where visitors can admire the detailed scenery and the costumes of over a hundred performers.
This year, the interactive living nativity scene in Tossa de Mar adds a modern twist. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, tradition and technology will merge to create a show with mapping projections, actors, and different staged areas in the Vila Vella.

Nature with the family
A trip to a natural space is always a great idea to enjoy a fun family day with a bit of exercise.
We suggest taking a day this month, once the children are on holiday, to plan a route to do together. The Paratge de Tudela, located in the northern part of Cap de Creus, is a perfect place for an easy hike.
Children and adults alike will enjoy discovering this amazing geological and botanical environment.

A bit of music
Music is especially present during the holidays and brings joy to both kids and adults.
You’ll be able to enjoy concerts held in theatres or auditoriums in several Costa Brava towns.
One highlight is the charity concert at the Municipal Theatre of Roses by the Coral Geriona (a choir that reached the semifinals of the “Oh Happy Day” TV show in 2013) and the Girona Banda Band. You’ll love listening to them!

Decorating together
The Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes, considered the best Mediterranean botanical garden in Europe, offers a Christmas decoration workshop you can attend with your family.
Two inspiring and creative hours to unleash your imagination and create Christmas decorations using natural elements from the garden.
More information available on the Marimurtra Botanical Garden’s website.

We hope you have an unforgettable time with your family and, above all, let yourself be carried away by the magic of Christmas.
