Dear Readers: Happy New Year! From GHT Hotels we wish you the best with all our heart for this year 2012.
Surely that 2012 brings many changes and will be a special year for many people. For us and for all the inhabitants of the Costa Brava, it already is, as the National Geographic magazine has chosen the Costa Brava as one of the Top Ten tourist destinations in the world!
And the first place that stands out is, precisely, Tossa de Mar, a town where GHT Hotels has three hotels (the Oasis Tossa ****, Costa Brava*** and Neptuno ***). Specifically says, «Tossa de Mar is perched on the Mediterranean in Catalonia, a province in northeastern Spain. The Costa Brava coastal region is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its moderate climate, beautiful beaches, and charming towns. «
They also mentions the famous restaurant “El Celler de Can Roca”, declared the second best of the world and located in the beautiful city of Girona, which also recommended to visit, also the medieval village of Pals and its cobbled streets.
If we talk about the Costa Brava, it is imperative to mention one of the most world-renowned Catalan artists, we refer to the brilliant and eccentric Salvador Dalí, born in the town of Figueres. Precisely in this city there is the Dalí Theater and Museum, which National Geographic says: «The Dalí Theater and Museum honors artist and hometown boy Salvador Dalí in Figueres, Spain, with a suitably surrealistic building.» The magazine makes special mention of the Mae West Room: «The Mae West Room in the Dalí Theater and Museum in Figueres is based on Dalí’s 1935 work «Face of Mae West Which May Be Used as an Apartment.»»
And finally, National Geographic recommend visiting the charming village of Sant Feliu de Guixols (S’Agaró Mar Hotel ****) which says: «Rugged cliffs enclose a Mediterranean cove that’s a favorite for boaters and swimmers. The picturesque municipality of Sant Feliu de Guíxols has six miles of coastline.»
The Best Trips of the World 2012, National Geographic includes, apart from the Costa Brava, Iceland, Koh Lipe (Thailand), Dresden (Germany), Istria (Croatia), northern Colombia, Virunga Volcanoes (between Rwanda, Uganda and Congo), Sonoma (California), Muskoka (Ontario, Canada) and Oman.
